Olympic champion spearheads water campaign

The challenge:
On behalf of water companies across the country, we were called upon to produce a “single voice” message to the general public urging them not to waste water.

Talisman’s approach:
In conjunction with Waterwise, we launched Shower Power – a public information campaign on behalf of 12 UK water companies – and commissioned multi-medal-winning former British Olympic and World champion relay runner Kriss Akabusi to lead the cause.

In addition to radio coverage and a promotional video, we launched a press release, which was issued to the national media. The Guardian online featured a detailed article attracting more than 60 bloggers contributing a wide range of views and opinion about showering. Click here for more.



In addition, we had:
• a half-page advertorial in Your M&S, a bi-monthly magazine with an estimated readership 4.6 million;
• a full-page advert in Virgin Trains' Hotline, a lifestyle magazine free to Virgin Trains’ 1.7 million monthly travelers; and
• an animated full-page advertorial in Virgin Media’s monthly online digital magazine/entertainment guide electric! emailed to one million people.

As a result of our work, the hub of the Shower Power campaign at www.waterwise.org.uk/showerpower saw more than 4,000 hits in the first month.
