South and South east in Bloom competition

Sponsorship management is another string to Talisman’s bow. For 10 years, we have helped to ensure Southern Water’s support of the South and South East in Bloom competition provides a platform for taking its important key messages – principally about sensible use of water when gardening – to thousands of communities across its region.

Across the water-stretched south and south east, controlling demand for water is essential and editorial and photographic opportunities are sought out to highlight the efforts of the knowledgeable gardeners who are ideal advocates to get across the message that this precious resource shouldn’t be wasted.

The competition sees around 250 communities and districts across the region battle it out each year to show judges their particular corner of this part of England is more attractive than their rivals. Ultimately, the best winners then compete nationally and, this year, one is also competing in the equivalent Europe-wide campaign. Thousands of schoolchildren also take part in a Blooming Schools programme, which introduces them to horticulture and their school grounds become invaluable outdoor classrooms.
